Cottisford is just off the A43 Oxford-Northampton road, about five minutes from junction 10 of the M40 and 20 minutes from the M1 Junction 15A. We are under 15 minutes from Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. Despite its easy access, Cottisford is a small, quiet village consisting of about 20 houses, a church and nothing else. A car is essential.
Local Information
There are many country walks directly from the house on public rights of way, including one through a country estate just five minutes walk away.
We are under 10 minutes' drive from Bicester (superb Designer Outlet Village), the market towns of Brackley and Buckingham and Stowe Landscape Gardens, and only half an hour from the centre of Oxford, with its colleges, wonderful botanic gardens, punts on the river and many excellent restaurants. We have lots of leaflets available on places to visit, including a fascinating town trail of Oxford.
Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix is only 15 minutes drive, where you can book a driving experience day and take the wheel of a Ferrari or a Porsche.
The picturesque little town of Woodstock, with Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill is just 20 minutes. There are many walks in the palace's park and gardens, good restaurants and pubs and interesting shops in the town.
The picturesque stone villages of the Cotswolds are less than an hour by car - you can see the trout swimming in the river at Bibury (part of which village Henry Ford tried to buy to take back to America), visit the aboretum at Westonbirt, Hidcote Manor and Barnsley House gardens, or browse in the antique shops before taking tea in one of the many charming little tea shops.
Stratford upon Avon is only 45 minutes away by car, and the magnificent Warwick Castle about the same distance.
The tree-lined modern city of Milton Keynes is only 30 minutes' drive, with its excellent shopping centre, theatre, cinemas, restaurants, Snowdome and easy parking.
You can reach London in an hour by car (on a good day) or train.
